Happy Easter everyone!

We wish you all Happy Easter, lots of chocolate eggs and bunnies and mainly some nice weather! No more snow! We are celebrating Easter Sunday with Keepir – Toldin’s True To Tradition – the newest addition to our Toldin gang, who lives in TN, but came to stay with us for a while. He is out of Kyra and Ripley. He is such a sunny, happy, kissy boy! He even likes his nails cut! (These pictures were taken before his pedicure). He is now 4 months old and full of it, of course. He was Mr. Red, the most laid-back and lazy puppy – WELL……. he is NOT that any more! You should see him zoom around the dinning room table! We learned he can jump REALLY high, almost on the counter and deffinately on the table. LOL Frank and I will have our work cut out for us in the next few weeks to teach him some more manners – he does free stack on the dime already, so that will help with show training. Here is Keepir, sending kisses to his brothers and sisters! Ziva, Figo, Bajnok, Remy and Lynde!

Tango is Toldi’s son with Fila, so he is Silken’s brother. His mom Irene owns a horse related business and Tango loves his horse. We have some great pictures of Tango and this horse on the bottom of our web page, but I found these videos on YouTube!

Toldin N Priden Joy Swing Time “Ranga

Ranga is sure growing up beautiful!

Here is picture of Ranga (Fame x Nelson) born on June 20, 2010 in her first show, handled by her owner Joy Sonsalla of Priden Joy Vizslas. Joy says that Ranga is all business when stacking, but as soon as they start to move, she is so interested in the judge, spectators, other dogs… she is like a jumping bean. Same as her mother Fame and her grandfather Toldi!

Thank you Joy for having so much patience with the little bean and we are sure one of these days she will just “float as a swan around the ring” to use your own words and make us all proud.

Sad news about Mr. Orange

During the night, we have lost Mr. Orange. He was born at half the size of the other pups, he was only 4.8 oz, but perfect in every other way. We gave him the orange ribbon, strong color to help him fight. It is very difficult for a breeder not to feel like we can control everything , but sometimes we have to let the nature take it’s course. It is very hard. Very hard.

We have so far (we think that’s it) 7 puppies, 4 boys and 3 girls. Momma started at 2:03 and finished at 6:07. It was a long past few days, but the miracles are here and they are just beautiful. Here is the slide show with the first pictures. Will post more details later, going to bed, I can’t even think straight, so sorry for any typos. I will write and call everyone in the next couple of days.

Down to the wire! Kyra’s update

I know lots of you are checking the blog for the updates on Kyra. Her temperature is still holding steady at 99.5F so no sign of the actual labor as yet. I am taking her temp every few hours and as soon as it goes down to at least 98.5F, the waiting gets exciting and she will probably start her labor within 12 – 24 hours. I have wished for today’s birth day for the pups, because it is Frank and mine 26th anniversary, but she will have her pups on her own time! She is as round as a ball, puppies are moving around. She is eating and not felling uncomfortable yet. She is still walking around with the stuffed toy, wagging her tail.

We set up.. OK, Frank set up the whelp box and I went shopping to Wall Mart yesterday and brought tons of towels, baby receiving blankets and of course 16 colors of rick-rack, which we use to id the pups with. They had lots of colors in JoAnne’s (US sewing supply and material store) so I stocked up on that and some fleecy fabric for blankets, Tula’s litter is also coming…

She just had to remove the toy I put there, she says, it is too early for toys!

Here is the mattress set up for her labor and then we move her and the pups into the whelp box. Our girls do not like to whelp in the box, but in this cozy place that I set up with lots of blankets and towels. Also picture for you of the table with all the stuff – scales, rick rack, gloves and surgical supplies, including stethoscope to listen for any heart beat at the end of the labor to make sure all were born. The last is the whelp box that by this weekend will hold our precious miracles.

Kyra’s pregnancy update! ********** Yipee!

Kyra is scheduled to whelp around Dec 8th- Dec 11 and judging from the X-Ray and how it showed puppy bone calcification, I project that she will have them closer to Friday and Saturday than Wednesday. It is always hard to predict exact day, unless we would do more Progesterone tests, so this is my best guess. She is doing great, she is rolling around the house and started eating for 8. That’s right! X-Ray showed for sure 7, but also might be 8 puppies in there. Vets count the heads, I count the spines and I counted 8 of them. Kyra came out of the vet very happy, tail wagging, I am sure she knows it was a great news! It is shaping up to be much better December than last year! We are just praying for healthy puppies and easy delivery for Kyra. She is such a great brood bitch, she is so easy going and manages her whelp box with soft and caring paw. Watch the blog for updates, it is easier to post on blog than to update the web pages. Ripley’s owners could not have been more supporting and caring and we are so happy we chose him for Kyra and Tula (update coming up!) Meryl and Billy are hands on stud dog owners, which so great and our puppy owners will be able to interact with Ripley and send news on his kids to them also.

This is so cool: I can lay my hand on her tummy while she is sleeping on our bed (that is her favorite spot now for during the day) and feel the puppies moving around, little paws poking my hand through her skin, it is absolutely the most wonderful feeling. They showed all godge-podge, not lined up, but one big bunch, on X-Ray, Dr. Marshall called it “talking to each other”, which is typical for Kyra.

Kyra is a camera hog. She will not stay put, stay laying down or sit, hence no pictures of her on our bed (she gets up immediately when she sees the camera!) so I am enclosing pictures from the outside and promise to try to take and post new ones this weekend.

Outdoor images were taken 3.10 and 6.11 the images from our home. Nokia’s (small town 150 km from Helsinki) outback is a small nature reserves and recreation areas, and from there you can find forest birds. We walk often in that area and one photo was taken when Veera found some birds.

Inside the house Veera likes to watch from the sofa passers by and other dogs. inside the house she loves to carry clothes and shoes and firewood around the house or digging through garbage cans. Veera is a very energetic and very lively but she always listen what we are saying and she has learned many things, like staying at place and she retrieves well. Veera´s attitude towards other dogs is easy, and she is not afraid of anything. sometimes it seems that inside the dog lives a little devil, but when it is time to go to bed she goes under the covers to to sleep and then she is like an angel. Veera has seen her mother many times after the puppy time, but when we saw that she is thinking something about her dad Toldi we have told her that her father is a very famous airline captain from USA, she seems to be very happy after that.

It was worth to wait for this quality puppy, she is just a great dog. Thank you Martha and Frank, Thank you Toldi, many kisses from your girl.

Funny Story and new pictures too–Riggs!!!

Riggs at 5 1/2 months old

Jill sent couple of pictures of Riggs. Isn’t he the handsome fellow? Like his brothers and sisters, he is growing up into very well adjusted and beautiful Hunnie/Jas son.

Riggs lives in Wisconsin and has already established a Riggs Fan Club! His friend Pam is also our friend and she loves practical jokes. Let me tell you what she came up with this past September, before Vizsla Club of America (VCA) Nationals in Ocomowoc, Wisconsin.

Adam, Riggs daddy was asked to lend Riggs to Mark Smith (he is Toldi’s sire owner and a field trainer) for demo dog in a seminar Mark organized for the Nationals of how to introduce birds to your puppies. Adam readily agreed, was very excited from the prospect of them attending Nationals in a “professional” capacity.

Pam, his friend and ours, had come up with an idea of playing a practical joke on Adam with placing an ad in the local paper (I participated by providing copy of going home picture for these two). Idea being some stranger may ask Adam about Nationals. Well, Pam also alerted Adam’s office staff and they cut out the ad and put it up in the coffee room! Well, you can imagine what happened! Everyone was wishing Adam a good time at the Nationals and everyone had a great time with it! It just happened that in the same local paper, Stone family was featured prominently as they received an Award for Community Service. Riggs was the “demo” puppy dog at the field clinic and made everyone laugh by going into a play bow and barking at the bird wing on the fishing pole. (video below).

We hope that Riggs is going to be at the 2011 Nationals in Denver, CO in another official capacity, participating in the show events and showing everyone how he grew up!
